CV-axles allow the front wheels and front suspension to move up and down over bumps and to turned while still delivering power.  The CV-Axles are used to transfer power from the front wheel drive transmission to the front tires.  When your cv-axles go bad you can sometimes hear them pop when turning.  Continuing to drive with bad cv-axles will cause suspension parts to go bad.  It can also create severe problems such as your cv-axle coming out while driving.
